They then said that they were going to ship the item out when it was in stock by 1 or 2 day air. I finally called them and they told me the item was on backorder. I ordered this lamp through Amazon which stated that the lamp was in stock. The shipment finally went out and they sent it 3 day as I had paid for, not 1 or 2 day as they had promised.
I emailed Sony three times with no response back. After finally receiving the lamp, it was fine, but the customer service was terrible. Customer service also told me that they were more than happy to cancel my order but would not refund any expedited shipping costs even though they knew it was their error. Just be aware of this when you order from them. I told them when I ordered that it showed the item was in stock.
I then received a return email that also stated they would cancel my order immediately but they were not going to work with me as far as any type of refund. Don't expect a warm and fuzzy feeling from them if you have a problem. I paid for expedited shipping and after one week had not received the lamp. After 2 weeks, I finally received my product. They immediately blamed the mistake on Amazon's site for not updating stock correctly.
I then asked them when the item would ship and they said "I don't know". This company is large enough that they aren't concerned with pleasing their customers. They will just give you the option to CANCEL YOUR ORDER.
I ordered the lamp from "shipitnow" a good company to deal with. The hardest thing to do, was to repve the front cover. it seems like it does not want to come off, but it will. Would of being nice to have the allen wrench that the other companies supplied with the lamp. i would suggest using gloves not to touch the bulb. But the price was good. Quick delievery time. It snaps on to the main body with five positions.
as far as replaceing the lamp yourself. it was easy it took me about half hour from start to turning the tv on and watching a movie. from there it is simple. it is will worth doing your self as to hiring a repair man.
I ordered this bulb to replace the existing one that blew on the Sony TV. I received it on time and it took me all of 5 minutes to open up the front of the TV and install it. Great product so far. Thanks.
We've had this TV since Sept. As another reviewer stated, the item is misleading; we also received a Phillips bulb.Considering the price of the 1st replacement $158.00 and the prospect of a SONY replacement $199 from Sony, I feel kind of foolish not replacing the TV. 2004. When the lamp blew in September of 2009 (seems pretty typical lifespan for such), we purchased a replacement from Amazon. However, since I don't have the money, we'll try another replacement, using a genuine Sony part.Check ALL vendor descriptions regardless of whichever website you use; it's a Sony housing with a Phillips bulb. You can only get a Sony/Sony part from Sony direct.[.].
Nowhere in the add did it state this was an Osram lamp, only that it was a Sony. FALSE ADVERTISING. They clearly falsely advertised this product. The ad clearly stated this was a Sony lamp. This is bait and switch of the worst kind. River Valley states that it is a Sony, but it is not.
BUYER BEWARE, go to a Sony Authorized Reseller and get the real thing.
Do not buy "SONY" XL2100 From River Valley Electronics as it is not a real Sony product, but rather a cheap generic lamp.
there return policy states "Unopened boxes can be returned for a 10% restocking fee".
Upon receipt it is the cheapest lamp sold, the Sylvania Osram.
I cannot return it for a full refund because I have opened the box.
The lamp did not come in a factory box, but rather a plain cardboard box.
No invoice was included, nor was there any warranty documentation.
How was I to learn that it was not a Sony lamp until I opened the box, now I cannot return.
DO NOT buy from River Valley Electronics.
